Came here twice during my 4-day stay in Rome - couldn't get enough of the fabulous carbonara and spaghetti with meatballs. Tonnarello is a huge, bustling restaurant with contagious energy and extremely friendly staff. It's very family-friendly with a kids menu and crayons to color on the disposable tablecloths. Food came within minutes after ordering - although you may wait to be seated, service is quick and accommodating once you're in. Portions are more than generous for the price. My girlfriends loved this restaurant - would definitely go again when I'm back in Rome!
We went here after reading reviews and asking local people in Trastevere for advice. It did NOT disappoint, the pasta is really to die for. It is homemade and amazing, I have no words. Prices are great too. Do yourself a favor and go if you want great pasta!
We walked by Tonnarello and the line was super long. We had to ask some people in line what this place was and they said it was a local hangout spot with great food and drinks. We came the day after to try it and although it was good, it wasnt great. Compared to the other places we found around town, this was average fair. It wasn't bad but definitely not worth that wait in line. The line does move fairly fast because of the large amount of seats and tables they have, but if you want A1 pastas, dig a little deeper and search a little harder.
