Amazing Tonkatsu. Nice atmosphere (small space c/w wood interior), great food, cold beer, reasonable prices, friendly staff who great you warmly when you enter and leave. English menu. Traditional and value-for-money katsudon! 5 minutes walk from Shinjuku Station, Visited “Tontake”. We arrived just before opening on Saturday and there were 5 people waiting. All the customers were foreigners. I was able to enter the store as soon as it opened. I ordered Katsudon (katsudon) for 1,070 yen. Comes with miso soup and pickles. It was full before it was even available. It was served in about 15 minutes. Katsudon is an orthodox type of soup stock rather than sauce. Although it is a type of pork cutlet, it goes well with pork cutlet and rice and is delicious. The egg is not too runny, and the soup stock and pork cutlet come together. It's delicious.
