I went here for lunch after my eye exam, and I just have to say, the Molcajete is to die for! I've never had it before, but I knew I would love it, as I love sautéed mushrooms, onion and tomatoes, Monterey Jack cheese, and Jalapeño. Definitely recommended it in all forms, whether thats eating it straight from the bowl, in a taco with the tortillas they provide, or using the tortilla chips to scoop it out! Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section

Well, it's dinner time and I have a taste for Mexican food. Torero's Mexican Restaurant is the place tonight. First impressions were that the place seemed nice and clean. I was seated at a booth and the lady quickly brought chips and salsa which ended up being lackluster. My experience with chips and salsa is usually positive at most Mexican restaurants so I was caught off guard at the runniness and lack of flavor of this salsa. My waiter Salvador was very quick and to the point. No small talk with this hombre as he took my drink order, quickly brought it, then disappeared before I could thank him. I don't think he even stopped. Later he returned to take my order then quickly disappeared again. I ordered Tacos Al Carbón with Steak. I found myself needing another beer but Salvador was nowhere to be found. When he returned to the table with my food, and before he ran away again, I managed to grab him for another beer. The place wasn't busy at all so I'm not sure what his rush was, I kind of think he is into quantity of service and not quality. The tacos were decent but I can't speak well for the rest of the meal. The rice was so clearly not fresh and the beans needed to be re-refried with some flavor added this time. The salt, pepper, and tapatio was definitely needed on this plate. I'm not sure how many Mexican joints are in Roxboro but I've been to 3 and there is clearly one that stands out from the rest. Nos vemos en La Veracruzana
