Torimaro is a very good B. As a yakitori shop, it has a clear focus: fresh chicken, checked daily; skewers prepared one by one; binchotan charcoal; and a house-made minced chicken skewer that seems to embody the shop’s pride. The food is excellent, and this is more than just a place to drink with grilled chicken; there is a real focus on the meat and smoke. The service and atmosphere also feel solid: a small room near Kitanozaka with counter seats where you can see the grill and tables for groups, providing enough warmth to make the night feel easy. However, the shop is mainly for evening and alcohol, and that is probably where its rhythm is most complete. For someone who doesn't drink and prefers lunch, the centre moves a little away. If lunch is available, that may be the best way to experience it. At night, I would keep it simple: minced chicken skewer, thigh, vegetables, soup, and leave before the bar crowd grows too strong. It's a charcoal chicken shop with a good reputation, but not quite my idea of a daytime place. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
