Located on Nishikamata, Torimaru Sakaba is a Japanese yakitori izakaya that offers a casual dining experience. The establishment is not prominently featured in popular restaurant directories, and information about it can be sparse. While there is a minimal listing on Tripadvisor, detailed insights about the restaurant are scarce.
Diners have noticed its convenient location near JR Kamata Station, making it an unexpected discovery after navigating through busy streets. Visitors primarily praise the affordable, yet satisfying menu featuring yakitori, karaage, and notable jumbo shumai dumplings. A standout feature is the variety of flavorings available for skewers, including sesame oil, which offers an interesting twist.
The ambiance is described as reminiscent of a classic Showa-era izakaya, with plenty of counter seating that makes it welcoming for solo diners. Although encouraging reports highlight friendly service and efficient drink offerings, it's important to note there is no recent feedback from patrons or updates from the restaurant. Information on operating hours also remains unverified, so planning may require flexibility.

I really hit the jackpot today I’ve been in Japan for 2 months now. I would never expected to get food poisoning from Karrage. I’m am 99% positive I got it from here because that’s only meal I had today and the last 2 pieces of Karrage tasted sour, I originally thought it was the spicy cod roe mayo. After 5 rounds of diarrhea tonight yeah I was definitely wrong. It’s almost 1am I’m still stuck on this damn toilet writing this review. To make matters worse, after checking the reviews, it turns out the place doesn’t have the best track record for cleanliness either. If you’re constipated, this might actually work in your favor otherwise, avoid it for your own good. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥1–1,000

This takeout-only place specializes in kara-age fried chicken, which you can order alone or as a bento with rice. If ordering a bento, you can add more rice with no extra cost (as of the time of writing). Most of the low reviews are just typical "customer harassment" complaints from Japanese people (no greeting from staff, staff not speaking politely, some sauce spilled outside the bento box, etc.), and the food itself is fine.
