It was a cute little place. They had seating downstairs and upstairs. We were a family of four. The owners were really nice and the service was good. The yakitori was delicious. We had ordered the chicken, chicken liver, pork, chicken wings, mushrooms etc. each person is required to order 1 drink each person. We were happy with everything except we noticed the bill after we left that they had charged us an additional 1,200 yen for appetizers. We did not order appetizers, but they did bring each adult a piece of cold tofu with bonito flakes & onion and the kids a cracker & gummy pack. We didn’t realized these were not complimentary and that they were 300 yen each. Our fault for not knowing the language & not asking if there was a charge. Would have also been better if they didn’t allow smoking. It was stuffy and hard to breath at times. Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian options: Yes. Vegetable grilled. More expensive than meat.

My favourite meal so far this trip to Japan. Two blocks from the tourist lanes of Hakodate, you will find this 16 seat Izakaya called Toritatsu. Family run with dad on the coals, mum making small talk and sisters taking busting tables, the vibe is just amazing. They're called Toritatsu for a reason. Trust me you have never tasted chicken that had so much chicken flavour like this before. The chicken bum and chicken neck were my favourite. Also worth a mention were the Aparagus from a local farm called Suzuki farm and the most broccoli tasting broccoli that ever brocolied. Today the pork rib was ¥680, which was a steal and so so juicy.
