Trappers has really gone downhill. I've been such a fan for so long and I'm suddenly regretting my decision to eat here now. The food is great, but over the years they have cut more and more corners, getting rid of favorites, and hiking prices Tonight I was told at 5:53 that the wait for all you can eat is 30-45 mins. So I agreed. At 6:45 the bar cleared up and they let the couple in front of me know that it would be 5 minutes before they could be seated due to the chefs needing to catch up. 7 minutes later they were seated. I was told an additional 5 from that so 20 minutes over the longest estimated wait. Simply to allow the chefs to catch up. What's frustrating is that they have been seating folks at tables who walk in. If the chefs are overloaded, why are they seating people while folks are waiting. It's just real frustrating and doesn't make sense why seats are open and I'm being asked to wait longer. I understand the sushi bar is all you can eat and more valuable because of that but this makes me not want to come back here. PS: I was finally seated at 6:58

Excellent Sushi. This is my first taste of sushi since moving back to the area and I was quite impressed with the quality and the service at Trappers. Definitely going back.

I went to Trapper's Sushi in Puyallup to start celebrating my birthday early by buying myself dinner. The order was placed online and usually takes 15-20 minutes to prepare. When I get there around 25 minutes after and asked about my order, the server Kyla told me that it wouldn't be ready until 6:45pm. After she checked my ticket, she moved it towards the back of the line behind more orders. This was frustrating as it was obvious that the place was not that busy and the interaction seemed more like discrimination as my order had never been started. My order was placed at 5:41pm for a carry out of only 2 sushi rolls. She then took my receipt to the kitchen and told me that it would take 15-20 minutes to be ready starting at that time. My receipt was placed in the wrong order and I did not ask for a delay. For the past 6 years of visiting this restaurant frequently, the quality of their food has always been tasty and the service impeccable. But the prices have gone up quite a bit. Since my meal was for my birthday as a treat for myself, I didn't mind. But I was not pleased with the service this time around especially finding out about a new restaurant service charge of .63 cents (2.00%) added to my order that I didn't know about with a bag fee if .32 cents. I paid $35.70 for 2 sushi rolls. This place is becoming too expensive and it's not worth it having to wait even longer for no apparent reason being put towards the back of the ticket line on my special day.
