Late review- Went in August for my birthday! I personally adored Tresca. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $80–90

Dinner experience was ruined by the attitude of the owner. Food was good, 4/5, but the owner and staff completely ruined it. What started out as a nice night, we got a table right away, the chef/owner came to our table to greet us in a very friendly way. Then a new waiter that was training took our order, I always point to the menu when I'm ordering to make sure the staff sees and hears my order. The waiter never repeated the order, so I didn't think to check the order. I ordered stuffed scallop for the appetizer to share with my wife. When the dish came they were prepared as a deep fried cake covered with sauce. They were three little balls with a lot of breading as filler. I was trying to figure out where the scallops were because all could taste was lobster. Overall, it was delicious, so we didn't have an issue with dish. Then the server came and asked how we liked the stuffed lobster. I told him that must be a mistake then, since I ordered the stuffed scallops. He says something along the lines as let me look into it. He didn't return and another waiter comes and apologized to us about the mistake, explaining that was a new trainee taking a few orders today. He asked if we enjoyed it, and I said we did. Then he ask if we still want our scallop dish. I was assuming they were going to comp that lobster dish, and in fairness, I agree to continue with the scallop dish because I did order that and was willing to pay for it (the scallop dish was more expensive too). When the bill came I noticed the charge for both appetizers and ask the waiter why we were charged if they admitted to making that mistake. He said let him look into it. Then he owner comes back and asks us "is there a problem with the meal?" I explained the mistake and his reply is, "why did you eat it then?" I don't know how the dishes look like and I didn't know what the "scallop" dish was served on scallop shells instead of a mushroom cap. That was the only visual difference between the two, you can't see any of the chopped up seafood and can barely taste any meat. I told him we had no idea that we were eating the wrong dish because the scallop discription lists 3 different seafood in it. So it all boils down to his argument that we ate it, we should pay for it. This went back and forth a few times, I was trying to make my case, why I continued to order the scallop dish as wee. I'm ok paying for it if they told us we would be paying for their mistake at the start, NOT them apologizing, then asking us if we still want our scallop dish (that was served after our entres). Eventually he agreed to remove the charge, but acted like he was in the right and we should know better. I feel this is quite petty for an owner of what appears to be a very successful restaurant to try to make customers pay for their own mistake. I don't know of a single other restaurant that would be this petty. It seems like their kind greeting is all fake now once I saw their greed and pettiness. Another poster seems to have a very similar issue when there was a mistake. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–60
