2019 Sauvignon Blanc 6 reviews25.00Russian River Vallery, River Road Ranch. The Vintage: The 2019 vintage is best described as remarkable. The growing season was nearly ideal. Sonoma County experienced a few late rains in the month of May followed by a series of warm days that provided full flavor development and fruit maturity in all varieties. The crop load was right where we wanted it and the mild fall weather patterns ripened the fruit to perfection. Almost all of the grapes were off the vine when the Kincade fires hit in the northern Alexander Valley. Wildfires continue to plague the wine country but as they say… that is another story. Winemaking: The making of the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc utilized traditional methods of hand harvesting and whole bunch pressing to ensure the highest quality juice. The South African yeast Alchemy II was used for the fermentation. This yeast strain imparts fresh gooseberry and grassiness to the wine that balances the fresh fruit components on the palate and finish. If you close your eyes and sip, you may see visions of the Loire Valley or perhaps the Marlborough region of the South Island of New Zealand. 100% neutral French oak was used to barrel age this wine for four months. Tasting Notes: Honeydew melon, jasmine blossoms, and white peach are all aromas found in the first impression of the 2019 Trione Sauvignon Blanc. Flavors of fresh key lime zest explode on the palate coupled with a lingering, mouthwatering finish, making this wine irresistible. It is great on its own but will pair beautifully with a dozen Hog Island oysters, mahi-mahi, or for that matter any seafood dish. Enjoy!

2019 Rose of Pinot Noir28.00Russian River Valley, River Road Ranch; Trione 2019 Russian River Valley Rose of Pinot Noir. The Vintage: The 2019 vintage is best described as remarkable. The growing season was nearly ideal. Sonoma County experienced a few late rains in the month of May followed by a series of warm days that provided full flavor development and fruit maturity in all varieties. The crop load was right where we wanted it and the mild fall weather patterns ripened the fruit to perfection. Almost all of the grapes were off the vine when the Kincade fires hit in the northern Alexander Valley. Wildfires continue to plague the wine country but as they say… that is another story. Winemaking: Early morning, whole cluster, hand harvesting was implemented in the making of the Rose'. The grapes were destemmed and placed into an 80-hectoliter tank press to rest for 12 hours under a blanket of dry ice. After 12 hours the free run juice was drained to a tank, no pressing was done. The wine was cold settled for two days then racked off the sediment to another tank. The juice was analyzed and additions were made including a Burgundian yeast selection called RC212. The juice was then placed into neutral French oak barrels and the fermentation began. Fermentation lasted about 3 weeks after which the barrels were topped and SO2 added. The barrels then remained in the cellar, aging for 4 months. Tasting Notes: The 2019 Trione Rose 'of Pinot Noir is at first glance a beautiful kiss of Spring. It's light, refreshing and aromatic with the perfume of wildflowers, honeysuckle, and rose petals. This Rose' will pair with many dishes from a carefree picnic basket to a main course of Alaskan halibut or king salmon

2017 Chardonnay 3 reviews35.00Russian River Valley, River Road Ranch; 2017 Russian River Valley Chardonnay. The Vintage: 2017 will be remembered as the year of the fires in Sonoma County, it will also be remembered as a near perfect vintage for most winegrowers. Spring rains meant that the vines had plenty of reserves to work with during bud break and the flowering seasons. The summer months were warm and mild, ideal growing conditions. Things warmed up in September that hastened the harvest season. All in all, yields were average to slightly below average with quality across all varieties at near perfection. At Trione we were done harvesting by October 6th, slightly earlier than normal. Winemaking: Time honored, traditional and hand crafted are the words I use to describe my winemaking style. This Chardonnay is selected, row by row, bunch by bunch in our Russian River Ranch vineyard. The whole bunches of grapes are placed into the press and gently squeezed to extract the juice. The juice is then cold settled with no additions made. After 24-36 hours of cold settling the juice is transferred to 100% French oak barrels in which 35-45% are new. The remaining 60-65 % of the barrels are one and two years old. A special mix of the previous vintage's lees is added to the juice as well as a selection of new yeast. The yeast that is used is a Bourgogne strain called CY3079. Tasting Notes: Bottled poetry is the description of the 2017 Trione Chardonnay. Burgundian in style of both nose and palate. Rich and inviting, this wine offers a complex mix of toasty baguette, warm melted brie; silky but with the structure demonstrating the aging potential. The 2017 Chardonnay is tasting great now but will be awesome for the next 5-7 years. Cheers!

2015 Sparkling Brut52.00Russian River Valley, River Road Ranch; 2015 Russian River Valley Sparkling Brut River Road Ranch. The Vintage: The opinion of many is that 2015 was an excellent vintage, although drought conditions were all that was talked about for most of the year. Dry conditions lead to an early bud break. The growing season was warm and for most of the period, mild. It was these conditions and relatively light crop that made 2015 one of the earliest harvests on record. For Trione, we began bringing in grapes for our sparkling on August 12th and finished with the last of the Flatridge Zinfandel the first week of October. Cases produced: 230. Winemaking: The 2015 Trione Sparkling wine is the third sparkling vintage made at the winery. It's made from 50% each Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on our Russian River Ranch Vineyard. The wine is made in what the French call "methode champenoise" or the traditional method. The grapes are hand harvested in the cool morning and brought to the winery where we press in a tank press that gently extracts the juice from the berries. We only press lightly to get the first 100 gallons per ton. Sparkling juice needs to be soft, light in color with very little tannin. The wine is fermented with sparkling yeast called DV10. Aged for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels then fined, filtered and bottled in special bottles where a small amount of sugar and additional yeast is added to do the secondary fermentation which adds the sparkle. The wine lays down for an additional 18 months, sur lee (on the yeast lees). It was disgorged in mid-November 2018. Tasting Notes: Aromas of honey, green apple, and baked pear arrive accompanied by lemon peel and freshly cut lime. The palate is refreshed by a vibrant acidity and lively texture, delivering notes of vanilla, lemon meringue, and cream. Hints of almond, key lime pie, and a bite of apple right off the tree remain for a lingering, lasting finish. This wine will age gracefully for the next five years

2016 Pinot Noir42.00Russian River Valley, River Road Ranch; 2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir River Road Ranch. The Vintage: Once again Mother Nature has provided Sonoma County another vintage year for growers and winemakers. 2016 was by many measures an exceptional year to grow grapes. The season started early as did the previous year. The crop was slightly larger than 2015 but excellent quality. It was an early harvest season, beginning mid-August and finishing up by the end of September, another record year here at Trione Vineyards and Winery. Winemaking: Traditional techniques such as such as open top fermentations and hand plunging the cap during primary fermentation were implemented. To accentuate the fruit component, twenty percent of the grapes were added whole cluster to the bottom of the fermenter. The cuvee or blend is a mix of clones from our Russian River Ranch. The clones chosen were UCD37, Pommard, 115, and 777. Each clone brings to the blend its own distinct characteristics. UCD37 is bold and full bodied, Pommard is rich and aromatic, Clone 115 tends to be more fruit forward with good color and the 777 adds pronounced Pinot Noir aroma, good color and a very silky texture to the blend. Tasting Notes: Fresh tilled earth, clean, rich and inviting are all terms used to describe the Trione 2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. This wine is a walk through a medieval forest, dark but with layer upon layer of blackberry compote. Complex and ever changing in the glass, this wine will age gracefully for the next 5-7 years

2015 Syrah34.00Russian River Valley, River Road Ranch; Trione 2015 Russian River Valley Syrah. The Vintage: The opinion of many is that 2015 was an excellent vintage, although drought conditions were all that was talked about for most of the year. Dry conditions lead to an early bud break. The growing season was warm and for most of the period, mild. It was these conditions and relatively light crop that made 2015 one of the earliest harvests on record. For Trione, we began bringing in grapes for our sparkling on August 12th and finished with the last of the Flatridge Zinfandel the first week of October. Winemaking: The 2015 Syrah is a blend of two French selections identified as 470 and 877. Both of these selections are considered high quality and originate from the northern Cote du Rhone. The wine is made much like our Pinot Noir in that it is fermented with a large portion of whole berries in open top fermenters. The wine is hand plunged up to four times per day to allow for maximum extraction of flavor and color from the skins. The whole berries retain the deep dark blackberry fruit character that is so intense in this wine. In addition to Syrah, five percent Viognier is added to the mix to give a floral, aromatic component to the wine. Tasting Notes: The 2015 Syrah is a pinot lover's Syrah; rich and inviting on the nose and palate. A charcuterie of sweet, smoked meats comes to mind. The seductive aromas of peaty, wet earth with hints of plum, blueberry and wild blackberry preserves are ever present. This wine is rich and decadent with the body, balance and structure to age beautifully for the next 5-7 years. Enjoy this Syrah with almost any cuisine

2015 Primitivo37.00Alexander Valley, Home Ranch; 2015 Alexander Valley Primitivo Home Ranch. The Vintage: The opinion of many is that 2015 was an excellent vintage, although drought conditions were all that was talked about for most of the year. Dry conditions lead to an early bud break. The growing season was warm and for most of the period, mild. It was these conditions and relatively light crop that made 2015 one of the earliest harvests on record. For Trione, we began bringing in grapes for our sparkling on August 12th and finished with the last of the Flatridge Zinfandel the first week of October. Winemaking: Small open top fermentation vessels were used. The grapes were placed in the tanks primarily whole, without crushing, to retain more berry fruit character in the final wine. The cap was hand plunged up to 4 times per day to mix the skins in with the fermenting juice. A special selection of yeast was used for the fermentation that was sourced from a native fermentation of Rockpile Appellation Syrah. The yeast is tolerant of high alcohol and produces esters with rich, dark blackberry aromas. Tasting Notes: A good book, a warm fire and a bottle of 2015 Trione Primitivo is the image that comes to mind upon the first sip. Deep notes of cassis, blackberry, and huckleberry jam. This wine is elegant, with an almost never-ending finish that lingers on the palate. This wine in enjoyable by itself, but will pair with almost any entrée. Enjoy!

2016 Henry's Blend58.00Alexander Valley, Geyserville Ranch. Trione 2016 Alexander Valley Henry's Blend. The Vintage: Once again Mother Nature has provided Sonoma County another vintage year for growers and winemakers. 2016 was by many measures an exceptional year to grow grapes. The season started early as did the previous year. The crop was slightly larger than 2015 but excellent quality. It was an early harvest season, beginning mid-August and finishing up by the end of September, another record year here at Trione Vineyards and Winery. Winemaking: The grapes were all hand harvested, sorted and sent directly to small open top fermentation tanks. The fermentations were done using a unique cap irrigation device that brings in air as the free-run wine is being circulated over the cap during the peak of fermentation. This technique ensures the binding of tannins with the color compounds found in the grapes as well as maximizing proper yeast cell health and viability. The blend consists of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. The varieties were fermented and aged separately then blended together after 12 months. Tasting Notes: The 2016 Trione Henry's Blend is a classic Bordeaux-style wine. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are dominate but dance elegantly together in this rich and inviting combination of aromas, flavors, and textures. Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec round out the ensemble adding just that extra je ne sais quoi. This wine will age gracefully for the next 10 plus years

2014 Chardonnay Magnum70.00Russian River Valley, River Road Ranch. It is extremely rare to have back to back perfect vintages but 2014 is proving to be just that: perfection. What started out as a normal spring bud break was followed by a moderate, if not ideal growing season. Optimal conditions for ripening resulted in an almost perfect development of flavor, sugar, acid, and structure. The harvest season began slightly early but with perfect fall conditions it was compact and uniform. The season allowed for an almost clockwork style of harvest. Complex and intriguing on the nose. The first impression is clean but rich and inviting. The palate is supple with hints of crusty bread and a soft ripe brie. The wine finishes long with hints of orange zest, honey and almonds. This wine have a long life aging beautifully for the next 5-7 years

2011 Pinot Noir Magnum115.00Vintage Summary: 2011 is proving to be a vintage year in Sonoma County and particularly for wines of the Russian River Valley. A cool year by definition, for red wines, including pinot noir, it meant that vigorous leaf and crop thinning methods were used to ensure that the fruit hanging on the vine was able to ripen. Trione pinot noir is grown in our Russian River Ranch vineyard which is situated at the epicenter of the appellation. In 2011, we had to pay particular attention to cluster yields making sure the grapes we brought in were at the peak of ripeness perfection. It has turned out to be a rewarding harvest; a year that is proving to be one in which time is a friend. Those that have Trione 2011 vintage in their cellars will be rewarded in the coming months and years. Winemaking: 2011 was the first year that we added Pommard and UCD37 selections of pinot noir to the blend. The two selections are the latest additions to our River Road Ranch vineyard, planted in 2008. Pommard and UCD37 both add structure and a depth of richness to the overall blend. Traditional techniques such as such as open top fermentations and hand plunging the cap during primary fermentation were implemented. To accentuate the fruit component, twenty percent of the grapes were added whole cluster to the bottom of the fermenter. Current tasting notes: Coastal notes of sea air, forest floor and blackberry brambles; a top down trip to Jenner by the sea, black cherries, hints of truffle and sage. This wine is muscular but balanced and displays long aging potential, 10-15 years

The blend adds complexity and depth to the wine. We harvested the grapes by hand and fermented each variety separately and then barrel aged the wine for twelve months. 2008 was the first vintage that we added Cabernet Franc to the mix for a classic Bordeaux blend. Once we determine our blend, the wine went back to barrel and aged an additional twelve months to 'marry' the varietals

Wine Country Vineyard Lunch ExperienceIncludes: A wine tasting with one of our wine educators, a tour of our state-of-the-art winemaking facility and our historic stone building (ca. 1908). A freshly made, farm-to-table picnic-style lunch including sandwiches with condiments, in season salads and sides, dessert cookies made by our local chefs of Peloton Culinary. Lunch is set within the vineyards in Alexander Valley beside our beautiful property and bocce courts. Select a glass of wine of your choice to pair with lunch. Group Gatherings | Bocce Picnic AreaIncludes: For groups of 20-40 $35 per person charge for the site fee to have exclusive access to the two bocce courts, large grass area and redwood picnic tables under a trellis for your group for two hours during normal business hours. There is a minimum wine purchase of one bottle per every two people. Client may bring in their own picnic-style foods and soft drinks. This is not a catered-style event, those events are priced differently. Outside wine, beer and alcohol of any kind is not permitted. Everything brought in (food, garbage etc.) must be brought out by client. Trione will provide water, glasses, bocce balls, and staff to replenish and assist the group.
