A local attraction - Montclair Art Museum, which is situated near this restaurant, is a part of the unique culture of the city. If you have never tried Thai cuisine, you should reserve a table at Tuptim. Do not leave without tasting perfectly cooked prawns, chicken and salads.
The positive aspect of this place is that the staff is terrific. If you want to experience fine service, you should visit this spot. A lot of visitors mention that the dishes have fair prices. You will appreciate the cute decor and homey atmosphere of this restaurant.

Worst delivery experience I've ever had. 2 hours for 2 dishes. It wouldn't had been so bad but when I called after the first hour, don't lie to me saying it'll only be 15 more minutes.

Average food. Poor service when it comes to take out. Check to make sure everything is inside your bag before you leave.

I liked it better when it was just Tuptim. The warm orange awning was always a welcoming and familiar sight and the simple decor a delight. The food was always outsta and consistently good. Like everything I'm Montclair, one of my favorite restaurants has undergone a "trendy" overhaul to attract the annoying hipster population. How disappointing. My visit last night was not planned and I arrived with out of town friends. The hospitable and gracious service was absent. There were 5-6 tables inside and more attention seemed to be paid to the influx of take out customers than the ones dining inside. Our waitress was smiling but not helpful or attentuve. We are a table full of hospitality workers and know the ins and outs of food and table service. After placing our orders with clear details and instructions, three plates were brought out wrong, one a completely different item. My guest did not send it back however and was satisfied with the alternate meal provided. No check back to see how we were doing. No offer of coffee or desserts..the check arrived promptly enough with an added 18% gratuity. For a party of 4!!! Not complaining about the gratuity amount at all as I tip 20% minimum, period, but the auto change is typically reserved for larger parties and it seemed to me that the indifferent service we received was due to the auto gratuity charged. Also, our waitress upcharged an individual appetizer order made by one person to the $15 soup charge for the table. Not cool. The food however was still good with the exception of, the seafood combination for the pad thai and fried rice. The seafood was flavorless and the calamari so overcooked that it could not be eaten. I certainly hope this is not the beginning of the downfall of tuptim.
