Had a great dinner at Tuzuri. We tried to go the night we arrived into Kyoto, but they were booked. We then made a reservation for later in the week, and it worked out great. The environment is quaint and calm. Plenty of options for all palettes! We had sashimi, grilled eel, miso mackerel, miso chicken, and snap peas. Everything was fantastic and had beautifully developed flavor. Like another review mentioned, they do have an English menu but it doesn’t contain everything that the Japanese menu has- make sure you translate and check everything out. This restaurant was really special and has been my favourite meal so far (2 weeks into our Japan trip!). The food was fantastic - we ordered the sashimi platter, beef croquettes, tomato salad and fried chicken and all dishes were really tasty and beautifully presented. The staff were all really friendly and accommodating. My only minor feedback would be for staff to double check we’re finished with plates before taking them - we had some leftover sauce for the fried chicken but the plate was taken away before we finished it. If we were staying in Kyoto longer I would have loved to have come back! Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

When I think of my favourite eating place in Japan, this will be at the top of the list. Helpful and efficient staff and a menu with lots of delicious options. We went there 2 of the 5 nights we were in Kyoto. The sashimi platter was different each time and really good especially with ponzu on the side. A great variety of tempura seafood and veg. Fried chicken karage and curry chicken wings were delicious and juicy.. use ChatGPT to translate the menu it really helps. Price per person: ¥4,000–5,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
