What a beautiful hotel. Open Championship being set up.. Had a great room. Food was really good apart.. Cooked breakfast was it's only let down as it was not cooked fresh.. But was acceptable. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great view

We stayed at Marine Troon August 27-29, 2023, in the Arthur Havers Suite. The room itself was spacious and well-appointed, with an excellent view of the Firth of Clyde. The restaurant and bar staff were excellent, as was our concierge. That's where the good ends, unfortunately. When we checked into our room, we found a man's dirty sock on the floor of the bedroom. In the living room, there was a lovely studded, leather ottoman with a serving tray on top to set your drinks, etc. I was getting ready to set my drink down and noticed a false eyelash strip on the tray, indicating to us, it was not wiped or sanitized, nor had the room been vacuumed, obviously. The main issue, though, was the bathroom. My companion and I both noticed a slight sewage smell. We also noticed the sink and shower made burbling sounds when the toilet was flushed, but didn't pay it much mind. The next morning, when I showered, the water immediately started backing up. By the end, my feet were completely covered in slimy water. I worry that sewage might be in the water, too. I notified the front desk and requested the problem be rectified that day. The next morning, we had the exact same issue. When we asked the front desk they said they had "sent somebody up." This was our splurge hotel on this trip, and the experience left us bitterly disappointed. Rooms: 1 Service: 3 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great view
