We chose Two Nine based on the many positive reviews on TripAdvisor, but unfortunately our experience did not reflect those ratings. The restaurant is located in a central but quiet area and appears quite unassuming from the outside. On arrival, the restaurant was empty and remained so throughout our meal, which resulted in a rather subdued atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and took the time to explain the handwritten menu. However, the menu options were quite limited and one of the dishes listed was unavailable. For our starter, we shared the tomato, mozzarella and toast, which was fresh and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the main course was much less successful. We both ordered the fillet steak, but the cut of meat served did not appear to match our expectations of a fillet steak. The meat was overcooked, contained a significant amount of fat, and lacked flavour. It was served with a small salad and mayonnaise, neither of which enhanced the dish. The accompanying tomato salad was pleasant but could not compensate for the disappointing main course. While the service was friendly throughout, we felt the overall dining experience lacked atmosphere and did not represent good value for money. We decided not to stay for dessert. Sadly, this visit was disappointing and did not meet the expectations created by previous reviews. Based on our experience, we would not choose to return. A very small and cosy restaurant with a friendly service by the owners. A must visit when you are in Marsala. We each had a steak from the ‘special and daily’ menu. Very tasteful and grilled as it should be. Lovely red house-wine (local shiraz). All very simple but that just makes the difference sometimes. In sort: a recommendation worth Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
