I visited around 9:00 AM, and the shop was about half full. It’s a popular spot even in the morning, with many international tourists among the crowd. The place has a lovely, old-fashioned atmosphere that feels very calm and settled. On this visit, I ordered: Beef Curry – ¥800 Blended Coffee – ¥480 It seems there is a small discount when you order both a curry and a drink, as my total was slightly cheaper at checkout. The curry is a beef-based version with a sophisticated, bitter profile. It’s a rich, "grown-up" style of curry with a deep flavor, followed by a slow-building heat that I really enjoyed. The rice is served on the softer side, giving it that classic, old-school European-style (O-fu) curry vibe. There is something uniquely delicious about eating this kind of curry in a traditional cafe setting. It sounds like it gets even more crowded during lunch, so visiting during the morning hours might be the best way to get a seat quickly. Thank you for a great meal! We came twice, that’s how much we loved the katsu curry and the ladies at Cafe Tyrol. One of the best meals we’ve had in our 5 week tour of Japan in terms of portion size, quality of food, and cost! Definitely authentic, huge portions, and far away from the icky touristy “wagyu” katsu in the center. Met a most wonderful local who said this is his favourite katsu in Japan because it’s made with love. I must agree. Now having been to many “cafes” that charge double the price for a quarter of the care, I wish we could go back just once more!
