Professional service is something visitors appreciate here. You will like fair prices. This restaurant is proud of a number of clients who come to enjoy the lovely decor. Great service in an intimate, vintage 50s diner setting. The dry ribs (a bit spicy) are perhaps some of the best in town. Sundays you can bring your own bottle, as a bonus no corkage fee!

The one star reviews of this place tell it all, there is a pattern of literally the worst service I have seen in my life and I am obviously not the first to experience it. We stopped in for Sunday morning brunch, I would describe the place as moderately busy with three servers. My partner and I waited for ten minutes for a waiter to check in after being seated, we ordered drinks and then waited another ten minutes for the waitress to return with only one drink. I ordered my drink again, and we ordered breakfast. Our server did not write our orders down and never returned. We waited forty minutes for our easily prepared breakfasts while we watched everyone else on the patio was served. The couple who arrived after us and tried to sneak a dog on the patio ate their food while their dog barked from their car the entire time. Nobody even came to refill our water. People paid their bills and were seated beside us and we were not acknowledged. At this point we walked out, as honestly there’s nothing the restaurant could have done to make up for this, and from other reviews it looks like they wouldn’t have tried either.I struggle to understand how our experience was this poor, whether our not this was the intention of our server, I’m left wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that we were a visibly gay couple, or if the service is just tragically inept. If you would find being abandoned by a restaurant irritating, upsetting or a waste of your time I would advise not to patronize Universal Grill. This seems to be a common occurrence for them and in a city filled with wonderful restaurants, why would you take the chance?
