This was definitely a night to remember. I am so grateful for the experience. Eight course tasting menu with flavors that I cannot really describe other than - wow. They captured the essence of Sonora and the desert flora and fauna. Several of the bites just linger in my memory. Amazing experience. Kind, down to earth, smart staff. Beautiful under spoken vibes. Thank you Ursa. Price per person: $100+ Vegetarian offerings: Not sure Vegetarian options: This is a tasting experience. Sonoran desert local ingredients in a fine dining experience.

Ursa reminded me of what cooking the desert can be. Nopal, cactus, squash, rabbit - ingredients deeply rooted in place and culture. Their pay-what-you-can experience is unlike anything I’ve encountered, reflecting a genuine commitment to their community. Warm hospitality, conviction in every dish, and storytelling in its most sincere form make Ursa a restaurant well worth experiencing. Huge thanks to June, Emma, DJ, Eric, Mika, and of course Chef Aaron. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This place is all about the performance. Laughably bad food for the price. Impeccable service. We went here with high hopes for a special occasion, a birthday. I can appreciate the Michelin style experience they are trying to create and I do love to see farm to table and restaurants that appreciate the desert. As a Tucson native let me tell you from intimate experience that the desert does not want to be eaten. That was present throughout the whole meal. The price is extreme for the quantity of food, you absolutely are paying for the performative dance of service that they provide. Very well practiced and executed, simple and slightly engaging small talk, choreographed food presentation, interesting talking points, excellent situational awareness and attention. The impressive effort stops there. The food was so bad. Of the 8 courses 3 were notably good, and they were a literal single bite. 3 were memorably bad and 2 were very forgettable. Maybe it was just the current menu but cactus gets slimy when you cook it and it is not pleasant to eat. Other dishes were horribly seasoned with bitter earthy desert ingredients or the textures were just awful, cactus skin is tough and fibrous no matter what you do to it. Since it was a celebration I opted for the NON-alcoholic pairing because they had interesting sounding in house crafted drinks. On the menu you could get many of them for about 7 dollars, so I expected a premium price for the pairing and something a little more interesting. I did NOT expect the same price as the wine pairing of 80 dollars for six drinks! I did not make clear the price before hand so I humbly took that loss with my tail between my legs and my eyes WIDE from sticker shock. For a two ounce pour of SODA and 3 out of the 6 drinks just bad flavors I didn't even know how to react. Half way through the meal, realizing we paid 150 per person for this charade just became a joke. We chocked it up to a great joke we played on ourselves and learned from the experience. We were so amazed at every poor dish after another that I felt bad talking so openly about how unimpressed we were. If you go expect a good show, laugh a little, cry a little and then walk across the street and get a 5 dollar slice at empire when you're still hungry at the end. For a great meal you can do better just about anywhere. For dinner and a show go to a mystery dinner theater. For an 8 course fine dining experience you, unfortunately at this time, still have to leave Tucson. Sorry Ursa, looks like this bear is still hibernating. Maybe with time it can become a bull? It's an expensive gamble to find out though!
