What a great lunch we have just had, the staff were all lovely, we had an our dog with us and they couldn't have been kinder to him. My wife had the Lasagne, which was home made and very tasty, I had the all day breakfast which was cooked perfectly and was huge. We will be back. Varsity is trying to move away from ordering and paying at the bar like a normal pub, and now encourages you to order at the table as though it were a full restaurant, but without the setup to make that work. Staff can't take payment at the table if you're splitting the bill, so at the end of the meal you're sent to queue at an extremely busy bar to settle up. The problem is that the bar can't reliably match orders to table numbers during a rush, and payments get muddled as a result. In my case, despite clearly stating (and insisting) that I'd only had one food item and one drink, I was charged £5 more than I should have been. The irony is that because you end up having to pay at the till anyway, the whole thing wastes far more time than table ordering ever saves. If they're going to offer table service, they need a system that can actually handle payment at the table, including split bills. As it stands, this is slower and much more frustrating. And all of this is before even mentioning that they keep raising prices while service quality only goes down. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: £20–30
