We three came to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday. We all ordered the seafood platter with fish, oysters, shrimp, fries, okra. One of us ordered the fried green tomatoes. First the hushpuppies were cooked too hard. When we got our plates all the food looked dark. Some of the okra was too hard to chew. The fish pieces were too small. The oysters were more batter than oysters. The french fries were too dark. The fried green tomatoes did not have any seasoning. The only thing that was good was the shrimp which we got after we received our platters and the tomatoe relish. We had been to Vernon's years ago but it did not taste the same as back then. My aunt was truly disappointed. Was staying at Margaritaville Resort and before we headed home, we tried Vernon's Kuntry Katfish.. I must say, this place is AMAZING. We did not dine in because our little ones were sleeping already, but we did get their food to go and we wish we had bought more for dinner before we head back home. They have lunch special, but we just missed it. So, you should try the lunch specials on weekdays from 11am-2pm. We tried the large katish fried, fried okra, potato salad, mac & cheese, hushpuppies, blackened tilapia with crawfish etouffee, mash potatoes with gravy and fries. Everything was delicious.. and the relish plate that they gave was yummy too. I want to get a jar when I come by again. Will definitely eat here again on any of our trips through Conroe area.
