Service was fast, store was clean and okay by the time I went. Food was just inconsistent. My first time tried Pork Roast Banh Mi here was beautiful, I loved the taste of the roasted pork, the seasoning and the crunchy bite. However, today was a bit disappointing. I asked for less sauce but received a Banh Mi full of sauce inside. It was even dripping out of the Banh Mi while eating. It was eventualy so saucy and salty that I had to pull out all the pickles and couldn’t finish the bread :( Price per person: $1–20 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tried Viet Origin and it absolutely earns its reputation as one of the highest-rated Vietnamese spots in Newcastle. The food is fantastic, packed with flavour and clearly made by people who seriously know their craft. It’s very no-frills on the decor front (think “all business, no small talk”), but honestly, that just keeps your attention where it belongs on the food. Prices are refreshingly reasonable too which feels like a rare win these days. It does get busy and you might wait a little but that just gives you time to build anticipation (and watch plates go past that make you question your order).
