I've been going to Vila Tarêgo for years, but yesterday I had a disappointing experience for the first time. The service is terrible, which may explain why the place isn't filling up. I booked a space to celebrate my birthday with 11 people, but when I arrived, I didn't like the location of the table. I thought about staying at Jardim do Vinho, but the available table only accommodated 8 people. We asked Janaína to add two more chairs, but she said she couldn't. In the same place, there were 5 separate tables with two chairs each. We suggested bringing them together, but again, she refused, citing house rules to avoid damage and accidents. Serious? All the bars I know allow you to join tables or add chairs. I've been to two birthday parties at Vila Tarêgo, including one of mine, and at both we managed to add tables or request more chairs. I was surprised by the inflexibility and lack of effort the attendant made to help us. Vila Tarêgo has a beautiful atmosphere, the drinks are excellent after the change of staff at the bars, but this poor service ruined the experience. We need to rethink where to celebrate such important dates that only happen once a year.
