What happened to this place? Only reason I gave it 2 stars was the service. Service was great. But the food? Expensive and just bad. I’m happy to pay $120 for early dinner mid week for 2 people (1 appetizer, 1 main, 2 ice tea) but the food was just bad and for that price???The beet salad was ridiculous. A few arugula leafs (less than a handful) and maybe 4-5 pieces of beat. Barely any dressing ($20). I get a better salad at the coffee shop next door. We didn’t even bother to take a picture we were so shocked. Then salmon with potatoes and veggies. Salmon came to the table raw. We sent it back and had to wait another 20min for a new one. The potatoes were undercooked and the whole dish was just ok. Not coming back here again. Price per person: $60–70 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Hi Liron, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we're pleased to hear that you received great service, we're disappointed to learn that your meal did not meet expectations. The experience you described is not representative of the standards we strive to uphold. Any salmon served below the proper temperature should never reach a guest's table, and we understand the frustration of having to wait for a replacement meal. Likewise, we are sorry to hear that the $18 beet salad and accompanying dishes did not provide the quality or value you expected. Volterra has built its reputation over many years on carefully prepared food, high-quality ingredients, and attentive hospitality. When we miss the mark, we take those situations seriously and use the feedback to review our processes with our culinary team. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and wish you had left with a better impression of your visit. Thank you again for your candid feedback. Sincerely, Volterra Restaurant

Not a positive experience. The service was sub-standard. We had to wait a very long time to order, and even asked the bus-boy to get our waiter so we could order, and the same to pay our bill. After the dessert we waited a good 20 minutes before we asked the bus-boy to tell our waiter we were ready to leave. This was for the Restaurant Week celebration so we had 3 courses. Our appetizers took a very long time to reach us, we had a party of 6 and one of our party had to wait about 10 minutes while the rest of us had our appetizers. The wait time between courses was way too long. Our waiter seemed overly rushed and he was not to be found when we had a question or request. For $50 a plate the food was mediocre. I had the wild boar and it was tasty, although the potatoes were very bland. I had the "lemon" cheesecake with huckleberry sauce. It was cheesecake, just missing the lemon - very disappointing - others at my table that had the cheesecake all agreed, there was no lemon taste. There was a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill. So for me and my guest, the cost came to $132. This meal and service was not worth that. I would have paid, at most a total of $75, including gratuity. I was verry disappointed in my experience with Volterra - food and service and will not be going back and I will not recommend the experience for others. On a positive note, the water server and busser was Excellent - I hope he got the majority of the gratuity because he was very pleasant. My suggestion is to Volterra, if you're going to host the Restaurant of the Week event, then do it right and make your restaurant a place to be remembered and not forgotten. I would welcome feedback from the Don Curtiss, Executive Chef/Owner as to why our experience was so poor as compared to all the glowing reviews I had read about Volterra. I would highly disagree with those glowing reviews. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

Hi Dave, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your Restaurant Week experience did not meet your expectations. At Volterra, our goal is to provide attentive service, properly paced courses, and memorable food, so it is disappointing to learn that you experienced long waits, inconsistent timing between courses, and difficulty connecting with your server. That is not the level of hospitality we strive to deliver. We appreciate your specific comments regarding the pacing of the meal, the appetizer timing for your party, and your dessert. Detailed feedback like yours gives us the opportunity to review our execution and identify areas where we can improve. I would also like to thank you for recognizing our busser and water server. Hospitality is a team effort, and we are proud of the care and professionalism they bring to our guests each day. Restaurant Week is one of our busiest times of the year, but that should never come at the expense of the guest experience. We understand your disappointment and regret that we did not deliver the experience that so many of our guests have come to expect from Volterra. Thank you again for your candid feedback. We take comments like yours seriously and use them to improve both our food and service. We wish you all the best and appreciate that you gave us the opportunity to serve you. Warm regards, Don Curtiss

My husband and I enjoyed a truly wonderful date night here last night. The Seattle Restaurant Week meal was spectacular, starting with the perfectly seasoned, tender lamb meatballs and a beautifully prepared side of sautéed broccoli. The wild boar tenderloin lived up to its reputation as the star of the show, it was cooked to perfection, rich, incredibly flavorful, and succulent. The grilled salmon was equally impressive. Beyond the exceptional food, the atmosphere was as warm and inviting as ever, and the service was phenomenal.
