German cuisine under the direction of the talented chef is wonderful here. This bar serves delicious liqueur, wine or brandy. The nice staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. Good service is something that visitors highlight in their reviews. Prices at Vom Fass claim to be democratic.

However on a subsequent visit on 6/28/15, different staff were on duty, some of whom were exceptionally rude.
A younger women serving wine samples coldly requested that I produce ID (I am 60 years of age). More seriously, I observed that other, younger patrons were not asked for identification.
Another, older woman abruptly advised me to sample appetizer-like finger food only once.
Because of the level of employee rudeness which I encountered on my second visit to the State St. store, I decided not to enroll in a workshop which they were offering, for which I had considered signing up.
There is simply NO excuse whatever for this level of rudeness on the part of employees.
