One day in November 2020, when I stayed in Atami, I purchased Wakana Sushi's two-tiered bento box. Each dish is made with great care and each dish is delicious, so I would like to use them again someday. It all started because we have small children and it was still difficult for us to eat at a quiet restaurant, so we wanted to eat delicious food that we could take out. The accommodation itself was suddenly decided the day before, so I ended up making a lunch box reservation at Wakana Sushi late the night before. Even though it was probably a busy time, when I called, they answered the phone promptly and promised to pick it up after 5pm on the same day. On the day of the trip, after dropping off our luggage at our accommodation, we got in the car and headed to pick up our lunch boxes. The store is located one block away from the main road, so there is not much car traffic. It is an area with a unique atmosphere, lined with small restaurants, bars, cafes, and snack food. When you arrive at the store at the agreed time, your lunch box will be ready and you will pay for it. Each bento was 2,800 yen (tax included). I remember feeling extremely heavy. The best way to get a bento is to look at the photo and the enclosed menu (handwritten!!). The colorful ingredients are carefully prepared with a variety of seasonings, and you'll never get bored. (There was a lot of variety with meat, fish, and vegetables!!) Even the children seemed to enjoy the food. All of the dishes were so good that it was hard to rate them, but the smoked mackerel with a slight aroma after the umami flavor, and the beef rib roast with mustard sauce (the sweet sauce has an exquisite sourness from the mustard) were especially delicious. It was the flavor I liked. The ingredients for the sashimi may change depending on the season, but the Hokkai octopus (water octopus) is especially delicious. I think beer, wine, sake, shochu, any kind of alcohol would go well with the bento (I chose beer and then wine). Overall, the seasoning is strong. Alcohol goes on. In terms of quantity, one serving is enough for an adult to fill their stomach. Two servings was enough for a couple and a 5-year-old child. I would like to reiterate that it was really delicious, so I will definitely use it again when I go to Atami.
