It's worth coming to this bar to try tasty chicken wings, egg rolls and cheeseburgers. Try good potato waffles, French toasts and cheesecakes. At Wakefield Tavern, visitors may order delicious draft beer, house wine or bourbon. Great juice goes well with the nice meal.

I had been thinking about giving Wakefield Tavern a try for quite some time. I'll start by saying this was a takeout dinner, not a dine-in experience. My wife and I have been looking for good breakfast spots in the North Raleigh area, and Wakefield Tavern was on our list. Based on my takeout experience and a brief look at the restaurant's interior, I think we'll continue our search elsewhere for breakfast. I ordered a Caesar wrap with fries. The ordering process was efficient and easy, and the hostess did an excellent job of making me feel like my order was important. In fact, the ordering process and the friendly service I received when I picked up my meal were the highlights of the experience. Perhaps not surprisingly, Wakefield Tavern's interior feels very much like a neighborhood tavern. It's fairly basic and a bit on the dingy side. While that's certainly a matter of personal preference, I didn't leave with a strong desire to come back and spend an evening there. My order was ready promptly, but when I opened the Styrofoam container, I found a soggy, somewhat messy wrap alongside a serving of limp fries. In Wakefield Tavern's defense, it's difficult for fries to stay crisp after 20 minutes in a takeout container, so I pretty much got what I expected there. The good news is that, despite their appearance, both the Caesar wrap and the fries were quite tasty. Overall, I think Wakefield Tavern could do a much better job with food presentation and takeout packaging if my experience is representative of its typical performance. The old saying, "You only get one chance to make a first impression," comes to mind. Unfortunately, my first impression wasn't a very good one. FOOD IS ALRIGHT , BUT ORDERING ONLINE IS A DISASTER. I HAVE ORDERED ONLINE TWICE , AND BOTH TIMES I GOT THE WRONG ORDER DELIVERED, SO IF YOU WANT A DIFFERENT CHOICE OF FOOD ORDER ONLINE.
