Walt's Fish Market Restaurant in Sarasota is a seafood establishment that will leave diners satisfied with their fresh and flavorful offerings. The ambiance is laid-back with a fun tiki-bar feel, perfect for a casual meal. The interior design could use some updating, but the focus on quality seafood makes up for any lack of decor. The price range is reasonable, making it accessible to a wide range of budgets. The restaurant is located on a busy street, so parking can be tight. However, there is outdoor seating available for those who prefer al fresco dining. Live music adds to the fun atmosphere.

The menu features a variety of seafood options, including red snapper, mangrove snapper, and red grouper, all prepared to perfection. For those who want to try local fish, the mangrove snapper, grouper, and pompano are recommended. Dishes such as the grilled mangrove snapper sandwich, blackened mangrove snapper sandwich, and char-grilled plate with grouper, scallops, and shrimp are sure to please. The hogfish, flounder, and king crab are also popular choices.

In addition to seafood, Walt's offers a variety of cocktails, soft drinks, and wines. The Bloody Mary, garnished with shrimp, olives, pepper, and celery, is a must-try. The lemon cream and curry sauces are fantastic accompaniments to any seafood dish.

Overall, Walt's Fish Market Restaurant is a great spot for fresh seafood in a casual atmosphere. The friendly service and reasonable prices make it a go-to spot for locals and tourists alike.

I've been remiss in posting this review about Walt's Fish Market Restaurant - I was too disgusted after writing about the complete debacle at Big Water Fish Market the previous night (3/18/22). (See reviews under Big Water Fish Market for that sorry tale). In short, we were in Siesta Key recently for just three nights. Big Water Fish Market royally and unapologetically messed up our dinner reservation on the Friday evening, leaving it too late to find another place for dinner. (Besides, we had such a bad taste in our mouths at that point about the treatment we'd received, and everywhere else was packed so we just shuffled back to our hotel (Siesta Key Palms Hotel - a hidden gem. Review on that coming soon.).   On Saturday, hungry from the night before  and on a mission to find decent fish (always my priority), we headed four miles north to Walt's. We'd driven by a couple of times the two days prior that we'd been in town and it was so mobbed, there wasn't room in either parking lot. But Saturday lunchtime, around 1.30-2pm, seemed to be the witching hour to get in on this occasion. We were greeted quickly and pleasantly. Seated immediately outside (our preference), and Kevin our server (from Seaside NJ) was quick to arrive with menus and take our drink order. Bright and breezy, professional and attentive, we had two of probably the BEST Bloody Mary's we've ever had in hand within a few minutes (you must try) and a complimentary appetizer of their signature smoked fish spread and saltine crackers to whet the appetite. While the menu is extensive and hard to choose from, we knew we were going out for dinner later, and opted for the Ciabatta Grouper sandwich and fries.  In just enough time to watch the video about the family's sea-faring history, the sandwiches arrived. Hot, generous portions, succulent, fresh and utterly delicious.  The staff were sweet, the food was on point, and the seafood on display in their fish market as we made our way out made me pine for my seaside town back in England. If I lived in Siesta Key, I'd make a beeline to Walt's fresh fish market to shop every weekend - and wouldn't leave before enjoying another of those Bloody Mary's and a light bite from their expansive menu.   Thank you Walt's, for restoring our faith in the possibility of excellent customer service, great food, and a taste of the best the Florida waters have to offer.  It was a lovely but all too brief visit, and a sweet memory.  If we're back that way again, you can be sure we'll be back to see you.

Food and atmosphere was great. However the parking situation is a huge problem. Not enough parking on a Wednesday night, and as a result my vehicle was towed. So not a great end to a great meal.
