We stumbled on to this izakaya on a Thursday night and were lucky to get the last table. Had no expectations but we really enjoyed the food, drinks, service and the whole authentic izakaya experience. Excellent sakes from Myagi prefecture also. Two thumbs up Price per person: ¥5,000–6,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I recently stopped by Watabe on a recent trip to Sendai for work, lured in by the sign for 酒と魚, two of my favorite things. Excellent food, great list of local nihonshu, and very warm and friendly service and atmosphere. Added bonus of 80’s rock and pop hits in the background. Just a great place and can’t wait to return next time I’m in Sendai. Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
