0 Stars for Tang - Assistant Manager I rarely write negative reviews, especially about a restaurant I've enjoyed for years, but after today's experience, I don't think we'll be returning. My girlfriend and I had our very first date at WeCafe, and we came back to celebrate a special anniversary. Instead of leaving with another great memory, we left with one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. We ordered the Salmon Salad Rolls (along with a pizza), which I order regularly, including just last week. This time, the rolls were cut into very large pieces, so I politely asked if the chef could simply cut them into smaller, bite-sized pieces. It was a simple request—nothing more. The waiter rolled his eyes, took the dish back to the kitchen, and what should have taken 30 seconds somehow turned into a discussion involving several staff members. Then Assistant Manager Tang came to our table. Rather than simply helping solve the problem, she immediately became argumentative. She insisted that this was how the dish had always been prepared. I explained that I order this dish frequently and that just last week it had been served in smaller pieces. Instead of listening, she repeatedly insisted that I was wrong and implied that I was making it up. At that point, I didn't even care about the salad rolls anymore. I simply wanted to enjoy lunch with my girlfriend. I told Assistant Manager Tang to remove the dish from the bill and said we'd just enjoy the pizza we had ordered. But she wouldn't let it go. Instead of leaving our table and allowing us to enjoy our meal, she continued arguing with me for several more minutes, insisting that I was wrong. We tried to end the conversation, but she simply would not stop. I've honestly never experienced anything like it. All of this... over a request to cut a salad roll into smaller pieces. It's no different than asking for sushi rolls to be cut into bite-sized pieces so they're easier to eat. It was a simple, reasonable request. A manager's job is to resolve problems, not create them. This situation could have been handled in seconds with either, "Certainly, we'll cut them smaller," or, "I'm sorry, we're unable to do that." Instead, Tang turned a simple request into a five-minute argument that completely ruined what should have been a special celebration. The food at WeCafe has always been good. The problem wasn't the food—it was the assistant manager. In my opinion, someone who chooses to argue with customers over such a minor request, refuses to listen, and won't walk away after the customer has clearly tried to end the conversation should not be in a customer-facing management position. Tang didn't just spoil our lunch—she changed our opinion of WeCafe. One person was enough to undo years of goodwill, and that's incredibly disappointing. This is the first truly negative review I've ever left for a restaurant. Sadly, I believe it's deserved. Service: 1
