All the food in Paris is so... French. After a bit of time all of the brasseries start to merge together into one duck/escargot/foie gras/croque madame blur and you need something different to cleanse your palette. Enter Welcome to Instabul. Welcome to Istanbul is a welcome (ha) distraction off the strip of restaurants where owners are actually standing in the street begging you to eat at their establishments (totally weird and creepy). My husband and I walked right in and were immediately swooning over the amazingly delicious aromas. Grilled meats. Spicy couscous. Fresh pita. It was all so refreshingly different from the usual menus in Paris. And the food DID NOT disappoint. I ordered the chicken kabob and hummus. It was perfection. The chicken thighs are super charred and flavorful and the hummus is smooth and creamy and delicious on the fresh, hot pita. The price was excellent as well. We all go to Paris for amazing food, but sometimes you just need a break from traditional French fare. When the urge for something different hits, try out WtI.
