We came to Wellness Counter excited to try this new sushi place and even more excited about the dry aged fish as avid sushi eaters. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday night and there was one server. We were greeted and got drinks and some starters in. Drinks and food were great but disappointed that we didn’t get any wasabi and only one of the plates had ginger on it and pacing was a little off. For a restaurant where we’re paying a lot of money for the food and experience, the service we received did not reflect that. Our servers customer service and hospitality did not add up with the kind of restaurant they are working at. She seemed rushed, unprepared and cold. We ordered dessert at the end of our meal and after being brought spoons and then waiting 10 minutes, we were told they were out of the dessert so we decided to skip it. The one thing that was very frustrating was when we asked for the check, the server came over with the handheld toast and asked if we wanted to split the check, we said yes and then she did the whole transaction in front of us at the table. She then handed me the ipad to select the tip and sign but she continued to stand right in front of us while we did the tip and signature. How uncomfortable. I think for a restaurant of this price point, physical checks need to be brought to the table unless asked to pay with Apple Pay or at least the server should walk away for a minute while customers put in the tip. Overall, I understand that Wellness Counter is just getting their footing and it takes time to get things just right and the food was delicious. We will be back but hopefully with better service. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant! Get a table now before it’s booked up. While the name is a bit deceptive, this is a Japanese restaurant with some cooked options and some sushi. It’s definitely the best sushi in Boulder! I would highly recommend this place (as someone who moved here from nyc and has found the food scene challenging). It’s brand new so you have to ignore the reviews about service, they are still working out some kinks. But overall, this is a great restaurant that I hope sticks around!!! (If I were the owner I would consider changing the name, doing some marketing, and then hosting a grand opening party. It should be more packed as a new restaurant.) The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had excellent service and our food was fast. (Had to get home to watch the knicks game!) So they’ve been hard at work fixing some of the feedback. :) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My partner and I were excited to try this new sushi spot last night. We’ve tried all the popular places in town but unfortunately, we’re pretty underwhelmed at Wellness Counter. Here are my takeaways: Service — unacceptable for a high-end restaurant. I can understand why the service may lack, it’s a new restaurant and people need time to learn, but the owners are experienced and I believe that all staff should be fully trained by now. Menu — small plates, expect to order many things if you’re hungry. Personally, we didn’t think the items on the menu paired well together. It took quite some time to decide what we wanted. Food — the quality of ingredients were top-notch. One of the best o toro nigiri’s I’ve ever had. Value — this is primarily why we will never return. Our bill was ~$170 before tip, too much for how little food we got; we didn’t order that many things. We actually ended up getting pizza and ice cream after. I would be cautious going here, at least until they get it together. I think there are other places in town that have better service, good sushi, and for much less $. Wish Boulder/Colorado held food to a higher standard (we’re from NY!) Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Hi Daniel, Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for giving us a try. We're especially grateful for your comments about the quality of our ingredients and the toro nigiri. We take great pride in sourcing exceptional seafood, so that means a lot to our team. That said, we're sorry the service and overall experience did not meet expectations. As a newly opened restaurant, we've been working through staffing and operational challenges, but we understand that doesn't excuse a disappointing experience. We also appreciate your feedback regarding menu structure, pacing, and value perception. These are all areas we're actively evaluating as we continue to refine the guest experience. If you'd be open to sharing more about your visit, we'd love to hear from you directly at hello@wellnesscounter.com. Thank you again for taking the time to provide detailed feedback. — Wellness Counter
