Graduates of Allen Park High School, both my wife and I have been long time customers of The Wheat and Rye on Allen Road in Allen Park. Today's visit resulted in discomfort for us. We were somewhat alarmed to see a dog in the restaurant when we arrived. Despite the presence of the dog, we seated ourselves a safe distance away. As usual, the food was very good. It was the presence of the dog wandering around his table that caused our discomfort. Watching the dog stand up on hind legs and place paws on the table raised questions about hygienic practices regarding support animals. This dog placing it's paws and head on the table was unsettling. I made a comment to our server who replied the group came in periodically, and the dog's owner was a nice guy and she liked him certainly did not provide comfort. Not qualified to comment on the allowance of support animals in restaurants, I just wonder about the cleanliness of this establishment we have enjoyed for so many years.
