Whispering Vine is a nice surprise tucked in South Creek Center, which is one of the nicer retail centers in Reno. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside and has a comfortable, relaxed feel. The first thing I noticed was the huge wine selection. Whether you are looking for a bottle to take home or just want a glass while you hang out, there are a lot of choices. They also offer tasting flights that are reasonably priced and a good way to try a few different wines. What makes this place stand out is that it is not just for wine drinkers. The bar has a large selection of liquor, cocktails, and beer too. There's even a TV at the bar if you want to keep an eye on a game. The decor is nice without feeling fancy or stuffy. There is plenty of seating inside along with a patio outside. One thing to know is they do not serve food at this location (they have two locations), but apparently you can bring in takeout from somewhere else. The crowd seems to skew on the older side (40's and up) but it did not feel like they were catering to any particular age group. Overall, Whispering Vine feels more like a neighborhood hangout than a typical wine bar. Good wine, lots of drink options, plenty of space, and a relaxed atmosphere.
