Oh my. While I imagine this restaurant was once good (maybe?), our experience this evening certainly was NOT. We are new to Bay Village and had seen the White Oaks advertised in several local magazines and other mailings. There was a point during our meal that I said to my husband, "This place reminds me of one of those restaurants Gordon Ramsay visits for Kitchen Nightmares."We should have known something was amiss when we were waiting to be seated and a server rushed by us in a huff, looking for a bottle of wine that was "of course" out of stock. That same server ended up being the only one we observed working the entire dining room in which we were seated. She rattled off the specials to us so fast that we couldn't even understand her. The actual menu was tired and uninspired. I opted for prime rib; my husband for yellowfin tuna. Both entrees were underwhelming. My prime rib was tough, and when the bill came and I learned it was priced at $40, I was pretty upset. That was NOT a $40 cut of prime rib--not even close! We ended up paying nearly $100 for the meal, which also included 2 glasses of extremely overpriced rose and bacon-wrapped scallops. By the end of the meal we were so ready to get out of there (our server was like an anxious tornado moving around the dining room) that we passed on dessert. We had to retrieve our bill from the hostess stand so we could leave in a reasonable amount of time.We had heard from some neighbors that Malley's up the street had fabulous hot fudge sundaes so we went up the road for one of those. Who would have imagined that a $2.50 hot fudge sundae was exceedingly better than our $100 meal at the White Oaks? We will not be back and I would caution others against visiting this old relic.

We made reservations early and sat by the window. We could see the creek below where we learned that during the prohibition, this was used. We saw several ducks below. And learned that you sometimes can see dear in the woods. The restaurant is full of history. There is a nice menu with delightful choices and delicious desserts. We will return.
Atmosphere was nice as well as our server. Little disappointed in quality of food at price points. I ordered the duck which was good, but it came w/ what seemed to be microwavable rice and vegetables. Overall I thought the place was just OK thus the 3 star.
