Got turned away because "there are no tables left" despite the entire restaurant being empty... they just didn't have any tables left in the breakfast area. What different doesn't make? Terrible attitude from a rude member of staff. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Breakfast

Had a lovely meal here a few times now and always a delight staff are always friendly and polite was served by Rebecca today who was lovely but the gentleman is always a pleasure he was singing on our 1st visit as it was near closing time a, what a voice and b, so nice to see joy in someone at work, fair play to him. Nothing ever seems too much trouble. Food tops all this off because its super. Never had a bad meal here and todays lasagne and toffee puds for dessert was to die for. Will definitely be back. Thanks all. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20

The Whitegate Inn Beefeater is located just off Broadway, next to the Premier Inn, in Chadderton. My experience here was OK, it was very good value for money, although it did fall short in a number of areas. There is a large parking lot which is shared by the hotel, you’re able to park for free when dining here, if you check in via the tablet at the host stand or bar. After entering the restaurant, I was waiting for over five minutes at the host stand waiting for a table. In the end, I had to start walking around the restaurant. The bartender seemed uninterested in helping me or at least letting someone know I was there, and I just had to keep waiting until I had to find a waitress for a table. She was friendly and polite, and appeared to be working on her own at the time in the restaurant area, so it wasn’t her fault, but it does show staffing issues, and I didn’t get that warm welcome. After mentioning I had an allergy, I was given the dreaded allergen folder, I just don’t understand why they’re still using a dated allergen folder in 2026, the online website had a gluten-free menu, having a QR code which directs to this or at least promoting it would have made the experience so much easier, I knew from prior research the menu existed online, but this was not offered to me. The ambience inside gives me mixed vibes; there are parts that I like, but I did find some of the seating to be mismatched and appear slightly dated. For my food, I went for the Fillet Steak with thick fries and peppercorn sauce. I wasn’t too impressed with the cut of meat; it was very fatty in the middle and cooked unevenly, with the left side being overcooked compared to the medium rare I had ordered. The steak did have some nice flavours, and it was also slightly chewy. The fattiness and chewiness aren’t something you expect from a fillet at all. The chips were average; they tasted like standard frozen oven chips you can get anywhere. The peppercorn sauce was quite nice, though and had some decent flavours, but they were a little stingy with it. The behaviour of other customers could have improved; there was an old couple arguing and shouting at each other by the entrance, which the staff just ignored, and there was a child at another table while I was eating, misbehaving and again being pretty loud, so do expect a family environment. For me, the best part about this place is the value for money; the prices are reasonable, and they also have regular offers through Tastecard. their own newsletter, where you can save 25%, which brought the cost of my meal down to £18, which you can’t grumble about for a fillet steak, sauce and fries. There are also offers during the week to get a main course for £8. The payment process at the end of my meal also took longer than usual. It took a little bit to be able to find a staff member who was able to assist me with this, and then two handheld card machines weren’t working. This isn’t somewhere I’d rush to return to, but I also would consider coming back, mainly for the value for money. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: £10–20 Dietary restrictions: There is an allergen folder available upon request, my food was served with a special flag to show it had been taken care of. Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot Parking: Make sure to enter your registration at the host stand to access the free parking Kid-friendliness: A family-focused chain with lots of options for little ones.
