Great food and wine experience! I usually do not rate hotel linked restaurants highly but recently I participated in a food & wine pairing event at Winestone, linked to the Mercure hotel, which I very much enjoyed. The pairing event consists of 4 food dishes; 1 appetizer, 2 mains, & 1 desert, and every dish is served with a wine. As each dish is served the host explains what the dish is and what the wine is and why they match together. Questions are welcome and our host was able to answer everything we asked. The dishes and wines are preselected by the chef and sommelier, I learnt that this is the name for a wine specialist, but if you have special dietary requirements you can contact them earlier and they will try to customise for you. The set menu changes every so often. I went on Sunday and will go again on Thursday and have been informed that two of the dishes will be different. Very enjoyable and educational experience with very friendly staff.
