On one occasion, someone I was dining with asked whether the meat was halal and was told that it wasn't, so the three of us went ahead and ordered meat, as we don't eat halal. While we were there a different time, we bumped into someone we knew who told us that the meat was actually halal. We checked again with the staff, who explained that it depends on the week, and on that occasion it was indeed halal. I was really disappointed to hear this because I thought I'd finally found a tasty local mixed grill alternative that would save me a trip to Birmingham. Unfortunately, that won't be the case now, although I may still visit occasionally for the vegetarian options. It's a shame because I wouldn't expect there to be significant demand for halal meat in a pub environment, so it feels like a cost-saving decision rather than one driven by customer demand. I would expect an Indian or Bangladeshi restaurant to serve halal meat and would completely understand that, but in a Punjabi mixed grill pub I wouldn't expect it. What disappointed me most is that it isn't clearly advertised either way. Even if you ask once, the answer could be different the next time you visit, which makes it difficult for customers to make an informed choice. That said, the food itself was really tasty, arrived quickly, and I have no complaints about the quality or service. It would just be nice if there was clearer information about what was being served so customers know what they're ordering and can make informed decisions. Price per person: £20–30

Went to the Woodpecker for a meal and drink this afternoon with family, food and drink was wonderful, but service from Heather was second to none. Thank you so much, would definitely come again! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20
