Great place for gigs , on the second floor a big lavish room with a good atmosphere perfect for enjoying live music. Downstairs a chill area for a quiet drink . Would l go back ? Definitely

I am shocked at how disgustingly my partner and I were treated at the wool exchange on the 24th of January by a middle-aged/older, very short-haired man at the bar.We ordered two alcoholic drinks, at which time I remembered that there was no eftpos at this venue. We paid in 2 five dollar notes and coins. I had also politely mentioned that he could serve other people before us, as I did not want to be an inconvenience. The bartender took all money from the bench top where I was counting out coin. I asked how much he'd taken and he said, 'not enough, but it's fine', very bluntly. I said, 'sorry, I'm pretty sure there is more money there than you need'. He counted it, and gave me back my change rudely, and said 'fine, you were right' very smugly. He made me feel like it was not in my right to ask for my change - very belittling. It was off-putting, as we had just arrived to the venue. I understand that rudeness is to be expected when staff are incompetent in customer service. However, not apologising for assuming we didn't have enough money, and taking extra money without counting for change, was just lazy and disrespectful.I wanted to complain, but my partner was worried we would get kicked from the venue for speaking up, even though we were of age, sober, and not causing any bother.I understand that we were not fully prepared for a "cash-only" venue. Despite this, being treated with such disrespect was completely unwarranted. Spend your money at Piano Bar instead ;)
