When you think of oyaki in Ueda City, you probably think of ``Yamazakiya.'' There are a wide variety of flavors, including the classic red bean paste, Nozawana greens, and oyaki made with seasonal vegetables. In addition to oyaki, Japanese sweets are also popular. I tried the handmade dumplings that were slowly baked. There are two types: seasonal ``Konome'' and ``Walnut'' which is typical of Shinshu. The buds have a mature flavor with a hint of Japanese pepper. You can also enjoy the texture of walnuts. Both were moderately sweet, and the aroma of the dumplings brought out the deliciousness.
