UPDATE: Excellent! changing my 4/5 to 5/5. Upon my return to Springfield, I was excited to hear about a new Indian restaurant that had recently opened in the downtown area. As a self-ascribed "connoisseur" of fine Indian cuisine, I have dined at some of the finest Indian restaurants in the country, a priority of mine whenever and wherever I travel. Therefore, I feel qualified to assert that Zayka Indian Cuisine is currently the best Indian restaurant in Southwest MO. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to learn that Gem of India, my previous "go-to" for authentic Punjabi cuisine, closed and relocated to the East Coast. I can say, however, that Zayka has done an excellent job of filling the void left by Gem of India.
