I’d recommend the counter seats. You can take photos that combine the sweets with the beautiful garden. The green tea is a bit bitter, but it’s said to have beneficial effects, including helping to prevent cold viruses.

We went here for afternoon tea and dessert after seeing a Maiko dance and museum nearby in Gion District. Zen Cafe was so much worth the wait. We joined the waiting line at the kiosk at the cafe and looked through the menu online. All the desserts were excellent. We had one of each dessert. The rum raisin cream sandwich was so exquisite. I absolutely recommend people to go to zen cafe. Hojicha was also excellent. Well worth the price for everything and well worth the wait. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. There was no language barrier for us, staff helping us spoke English. Meal type: Other Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
