Tried for the first time. The food was served one by one after a long interval for the last dish. We are ok to sit outside, but very dark till can't see the dish ( no lightings). Customers who came later got their dishes all served , whilst we were still waiting for our last dish. Other customer smoked whilst dining. Customer not queueing for table but rushed to tables themselves, as though playing "musical chair". Unpleasant experience. Price is not considered value for money given the atmosphere and service. Food tastes good for a Sichuan joint in the suburbs. Generous use of chilli and peppercorns. Could do with a more moderate use of cooking oil. Shop was busy, and takeaway orders kept coming in as well. You’ll be in for quite a wait for a simple meal on a busy night. We visited Zhang Mama at Gordon and the food was seriously good! ️ We ordered the Sichuan bean jelly, century egg with roasted chili, the mouth-watering chicken, and their signature hot pot fish. Every dish was packed with flavor. The restaurant was incredibly busy while we were there. The younger female staff member was really nice and friendly despite the rush. However, I highly recommend booking a table in advance. If you just walk in without a reservation, you might end up dealing with disappointment, which can easily ruin the experience.
