Both Dogenzaka and Katsudon-ya Zuicho are recommended for visiting. Do not delay your visit – seriously, the Japanese cuisine is waiting for you. Nicely cooked chicken katsudon, pork katsu and broth are among the dishes to be ordered at this restaurant. Come here and try good beer. Delicious ice tea, japanese tea or jasmine tea are among the tastiest drinks to degust.

This was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience of my trip. My husband and I paid 4,100 yen (about US$25) for two katsudon meals. For what we received, the value was incredibly poor. The food itself was fine. The problem is that the quality of the food is nowhere near enough to justify the price. You can find similar meals for significantly less money elsewhere. On top of that, you have to wait outside before getting in, only to be seated in an extremely cramped and uncomfortable space. The restaurant is so small that there is barely enough room to sit properly. The heat inside was unbearable, and I spent most of the meal sweating instead of enjoying my food. It was 28°C (82°F) outside, and the moment I stepped out of the restaurant I felt immediate relief. That says a lot about how unbearably hot it was inside. What bothered me most is not the amount of money itself, but the complete mismatch between the price and the overall experience. We have been traveling through seven countries over the last month, eating at hundreds of different places, and this is the only restaurant that left us feeling genuinely disappointed. To be completely honest, I walked out feeling ripped off. There are far better places nearby that offer better value, more comfort, and a much more enjoyable dining experience.

This restaurant serves incredibly delicious Japanese cutlet dishes with rice and egg, and the food was absolutely worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. The combination of the crispy cutlet, soft egg, and perfectly prepared rice worked extremely well together. I would especially recommend adding an extra egg, as it makes the dish even better. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant at least once. It was one of the most enjoyable meals I had and definitely a place I would return to. My first dinner choice in Tokyo was Katsudon-ya Zuicho, and I absolutely loved it. It’s a small and cozy place, so there can be a wait during peak hours, but it’s definitely worth it. The meal started with a soup that was warm and comforting, a perfect way to begin. For the main dish, the panko-crusted fried pork was perfectly cooked and crispy, and the eggs underneath were incredibly delicious. The food was served at just the right temperature, which made the whole meal even more enjoyable. Even though I don’t speak Japanese, I was able to communicate with some English, and the staff were very welcoming and cheerful throughout. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience and a great first meal in Tokyo. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
