Cassata siciliana

Dessert
It's a delicious Sicilian dessert made of liqueur-soaked sponge cake layered with candied fruit, marzipan, sweetened ricotta and white glaze. It was traditionally cooked at Easter but one day nuns made and ate so much cassata that they broke their vow.

As a result, this cake was prohibited during Holy Week.
