Tucked away up the slope near Sakuragichō, Chant feels like one of those places you’re glad you found and want to bring a friend back to. The space is small and cozy, but it has character — counter seats and a handful of tables, the kind of place where you can slow down. The keema curry with purple rice was the highlight for me — beautifully plated, balanced flavors, and just enough spice to keep you coming back for another bite. They also pour a great local craft beer (“Nami”), which turned lunch into something closer to an experience than just a meal. The walk up the slope makes the first sip of beer even better. Service was friendly without being intrusive, and the whole place has that “neighborhood favorite” vibe. Chant is one of those spots where you feel like you’ve discovered a little part of Yokohama that not everyone knows yet. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
