Food was great, very fresh! I got the ahi tuna tacos. Delicious! Staff is very helpful and friendly. Great selection of drinks as well! Covid precautions in place!

This is fine food, not Tex-mex. Hand-made cocktails, not a slushy machine. And a host with the most.

A group I belong to had a small dinner meeting at Chupacabra Latin Café. It was my first time there, and I would say it qualifies as a pleasant neighborhood restaurant. (It's hardly a Latin Café, despite the name, as it has only a handful of Latin American dishes, but for a neighborhood restaurant in Woodfin that's okay.) Although the restaurant is in the rather antiseptic Shops at Reynolds Village (sort of a smaller-scale Biltmore Town Park), the atmosphere at Chupacabra is more shabby genteel than suburban modern. As you enter, there's a bar on the right, and beyond an ordering area with blackboard signs leading into the dining areas, with simple wood chairs and tables. Apparently when the café opened you had to order at the counter, but there's now table service, which is good. Service was prompt and efficient. The restaurant was about half full, and the noise level was moderate. If full, it might be a little loud. One thing to note is that the location of the restaurant is not well signed. Your GPS may not be helpful in finding it, and I had to drive around the block a time or two until I spotted something that looked like it could be it. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, and I heard no complaints. One person had the signature Chupacabra bowl with pork and said it was great. Another ordered a shrimp dish, one the paella (huge!), another a Cuban sandwich. I debated between the cheeseburger, which our waitress described as very popular, and fish and chips ($16), deciding on the latter. The fries were good, and the fish was a little heavy on the breading, but pretty good. With a margarita ($8) and a Hillman IPA draft ($6), my bill came to $32 before tip. Bottom line: I wouldn't drive all the way across town for dinner here, but if I lived in Woodfin I probably would come here occasionally.
