After four weeks of travelling across Japan and indulging in an extraordinary array of Japanese cuisine, I found myself longing for comfort in pizza. I had known about this place since last year and was eager to discover whether it truly lived up to the acclaim showered upon it by critics and award panels alike. Naturally, I chose the benchmark of any pizzeria: Margherita. The dough was excellent, particularly around the crust, where it achieved that desirable balance of lightness and chew. The mozzarella was pleasant, though not particularly memorable. My main reservation lay with the tomato sauce, whose pronounced acidity overwhelmed the delicate flavour of the cheese rather than complementing it. As for the setting, it felt somewhat conflicted. The refined, upscale décor seemed at odds with the rustic entrance, dominated by the wood-fired oven, and with the restaurant's Neapolitan aspirations. While elegant, the space lacks a sense of identity and warmth. It could benefit from a stronger character, something that better reflects the soul and simplicity of the tradition it seeks to celebrate. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Sorry no pics or pizza name - wasn't expecting much so ate it really fast as a takeout. Not a cheap pizza, but worthy of its price. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5

Da Giorgio has definitely the closest to authentic napolitan pizzas in Tokyo. The crust, the ingredients, the proportions... Excellent quality of both food and service.
