We brought a party of 5 to Emi Cafe around 1100 during our trip through Takeo. We had to park in an adjacent lot since it was full parking in front, but that was just an indication of the goodness we were about to experience. The cafe is owned and operated by the former mayor of Takeo. He greeted us on arrival with excellent English and seated us in a private space in the back. He's traveled to Texas a few times so he was happy to share stories with us. The food was delicious! Between us we ordered chili with chips, chili with cheese, the omelette sandwich, and the pretzel with soup. All of the food was made with local ingredients and very delicious. The chef came out to check on us and ask why Texans were ordering American style chili in Japan haha, but it was all very very good. Highly recommend the stop during your travels! Thank you very much for visiting emi cafe during your trip with your party of five, and for leaving such a warm and wonderful review, along with the highest possible ratings for food, service, and atmosphere. We understand that when you arrived around 11:00 a.m., the parking spaces in front of the cafe were full and you used our second parking lot instead. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. At the same time, we were deeply grateful and humbled that you described even that situation so positively, as “an indication of the goodness” you were about to experience. emi cafe is not a large cafe, but thanks to the support of our local guests as well as visitors from Japan and around the world, we are able to continue welcoming customers every day. It was also a truly enjoyable and memorable experience for me and our staff to have the opportunity to speak with your group. Meeting guests from Texas here in the small local city of Takeo, and being able to talk about your travels, Texas, and some of my own experiences overseas, was exactly the kind of encounter that makes running a cafe so rewarding. Since I have also had the opportunity to visit Texas before, I felt a special connection, and I was very happy that our conversation flowed so naturally. We are also very grateful that your group tried a variety of dishes, including the chili chips, chili rice, egg sandwich, and pretzel with soup, and that you described the food as very delicious. At emi cafe, we try to make the best use of local ingredients while creating dishes that can be enjoyed by guests of all ages and from all countries. In particular, it brought a smile to all of us that guests from Texas ordered American-style chili here in Takeo, Japan. When our chef came out and asked, half jokingly and half with genuine surprise, why Texans were ordering chili in Japan, it became a very fun and memorable moment for us as well. The fact that you still found it “very, very good” is a tremendous encouragement to everyone involved in preparing our food. We also truly enjoyed seeing the photos and videos you posted. They were beautifully taken, with a wonderful sense of composition and light, and they captured the atmosphere of emi cafe and our dishes in such a lovely way. More than that, your photos and videos conveyed how fully you were enjoying your journey, and that made all of us feel very happy. If your time in Takeo became even a small part of your good memories from your trip to Japan, there could be no greater joy for us. emi cafe will celebrate its fourth anniversary this December. We are still a small cafe with much to learn and improve, but we will continue to value each encounter with guests from Japan and from around the world. With the spirit of “better today than yesterday, better tomorrow than today,” we will keep working to improve our food, service, and atmosphere little by little. Thank you once again for choosing emi cafe from among so many places, and for leaving us such a heartfelt and memorable review. We sincerely hope that one day you will return to Takeo and to emi cafe again. I, together with all of our staff, will be very much looking forward to welcoming you back.

Contemporary space. Friendly service. Menu in English and Japanese. I ordered the Hayashi Rice and Lemon Cheesecake for dessert, and my lovely dining companion ordered Keema Curry and Cinnamon Cake for dessert. Everything was delicious. The owner spoke with us and explained they attract customers from many countries. He recommended we stop at the Takeo City Library, an architectural delight. Light jazz music adds to the atmosphere. Outdoor dining is an option here. A very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thank you very much for visiting emi cafe and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review and extremely high rating. We were truly delighted to read your kind comments about the atmosphere, food, music, and overall experience during your visit to Takeo. We are especially happy to hear that you enjoyed the Hayashi Rice, Keema Curry, Lemon Cheesecake, and Cinnamon Cake. At emi cafe, we carefully prepare not only our meals but also our desserts with the hope that they become part of our guests’ travel memories. Hearing that everything was delicious means a great deal to us and encourages our entire team. Thank you as well for describing our cafe as a “contemporary space.” Although emi cafe is located in a relatively small town in rural Japan, we have always hoped to create a place where both local and international guests can feel comfortable and relaxed. For that reason, we provide menus in English and try to make the atmosphere welcoming for visitors from overseas. In recent years, we have been fortunate to welcome guests from Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Australia, and many European countries. It always feels special to see people from different cultures and backgrounds gathering together in a small café here in Saga Prefecture. Those encounters are one of the most rewarding parts of running emi cafe. We are also very pleased that you visited Takeo City Library and appreciated its architecture. The library has become one of Takeo’s most well-known landmarks, especially among international travelers who are interested in architecture, design, and unique public spaces. Many visitors are surprised to discover such a modern and inspiring space in a quiet regional city, and we believe it represents part of the charm of Takeo itself. Thank you as well for mentioning the light jazz music and outdoor seating. We want emi cafe to be a place where people can slow down, relax, and enjoy a peaceful moment away from the busyness of everyday life. Whether enjoying coffee indoors with music or sitting outside in the fresh air, we hope our guests can experience the calm atmosphere that makes Takeo special. We sincerely appreciate that you chose to spend part of your trip with us. Your kind recommendation means more to us than words can express. We will continue doing our best to create a welcoming place for travelers from around the world as well as for our local community. We hope to welcome you again someday when you return to Japan and to Takeo. Thank you once again for your kindness and support.
