See Higashisanjo Taishogun Shrine by default, the guests' recommendation is to visit this restaurant as well. French cuisine under the direction of the talented chef is great at this place. The success of espace would be impossible without the nice staff. Spectacular service is something guests appreciate here. The atmosphere of this place is charming. We had another exceptional dinner here last night. My wife and I are from the United States, and this was our second visit — the first time was almost two years ago, and the experience was just as wonderful then as it was this time. The consistency alone says a lot. This is a very small, intimate bistro with only a few seats, and the owner-chef does most everything himself. The food is exquisite — thoughtful, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious from start to finish. Every dish reflects real care, skill, and attention to detail. We do not speak Japanese, but we made an effort to meet the chef halfway. We reserved in advance through Instagram, and he kindly sent us a photo of the menu. We translated it, decided what we wanted ahead of time, and brought our order written in Japanese. That made the evening smooth and enjoyable for everyone, and the chef seemed genuinely happy. One important note for future guests: this is a reservation-focused restaurant, which is very common in Japan, especially for small, chef-run places like this. Even if the restaurant appears empty, walking in without a reservation can be difficult — not because of attitude or exclusion, but because the chef is preparing complex dishes and managing everything himself, often while working in a language that is not English. If you take the time to reserve, come prepared, and respect how the restaurant operates, you’ll be rewarded with an outstanding meal and a genuinely warm experience. We look forward to returning again and highly recommend this place. Price per person: ¥8,000–9,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
