Excellent Izakaya in Noetsu. The owner is a young guy who is fun to talk to, the chef makes amazing food. The ambience inside the bar is nice, it’s also very clean. Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Hip izakaya with elevated food in Naoetsu. 2 really friendly young guys run the place... one bartender one chef. There's literally dozens of these tiny bars in the area but this one seemed to be nicest and most unique by far. Food was dynamite including 2 slabs of amazing smoked bacon and some very creative pork ribs. Place was empty when I got there... within 20 minutes it was bustling (by Japan standards) with commuters, mostly women, from the nearby train station. Good music, great drinks. Very sleek vibe. Great find, albeit by accident. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
