Made a special trip Takasaki to try warmth at a recommendation of a friend. It was completely empty on a weekday afternoon. The vibes are hipster chill, with a few seats inside (no big tables) and vinyl records playing. The owner is super duper friendly and smiley and was happy to provide us recommendations for filters and milk brews, even though there was a language gap. They have quite a wide selection of single-origin beans; descriptions are all in Japanese so we did rely heavily on Google Translate to decipher. Tried four coffees in total — an iced filter, two hot filters and a flat white. The cups were all well-brewed and balanced. The price is also a lot more reasonable than places like Glitch or Leaves; the honey process geisha was about 1,100 yen (which I know is not *cheap* by any absolute measure but). It may not be the place for you if you’re looking for novelty and (ridiculously expensive) rare lots — an establishment like Glitch, which has a lot more procuring power, would then be more suitable for you. But warmth’s coffee is more than pleasant, and, importantly, it’s a cafe with a lot of heart. I suspect the location is a bit too inconvenient for most foreign tourists, unfortunately, but Takasaki is lucky to have them!
