Located on Sakaemachi in Kitakyushu, とらや is a Japanese eatery known for its ramen offerings. Set conveniently along the tracks of the scenic "Shiokaze-Go" tourist train, the small establishment appears to have built up its space over time, adding to its charm. The restaurant embraces a self-service method where diners place their orders via a vending machine and present tickets to the servers. While there are no English menu options, the dishes are visually represented in photographs to assist those unfamiliar with the language.
Serving traditional Japanese flavors, とらや specializes in ramen while also offering an extensive menu that includes salt, soy sauce, and curry ramen options alongside other popular dishes like mazesoba, fried rice, and gyoza. A staple feature noted by visitors is their tonkotsu-based ramen, characterized by a light broth and straight thin noodles cooked firm. It's worth mentioning that reviews highlight the budget-friendly nature of this dining experience, a standout feature in today’s dining scene. However, it's important to note that the most recent customer feedback dates back six years, and there appears to be a lack of updated information from the owners regarding current offerings and services.
With operating hours spanning Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, とらや provides plenty of opportunities for visitors to drop by for a meal. Although they do not offer outdoor seating or accept credit cards, the indoor setting encourages an uncomplicated dining experience. In recent history, potential patrons or diners intrigued by this spot might benefit from reaching out directly to gather the latest updates, as there is little new from past visitors or management.
